Termite activity/damage often goes undetected because they thrive discreetly and in inaccessible spots. This means they are constantly consuming wood and damaging it without any visible signs. That's why effective termite control is vital. If left untreated, termites can weaken the wood within your home leading to costlier damages. Types of  Termite:

Subterranean Termite can cause extensive damage. The hard, saw-toothed jaws of termites work like shears and can bite off extremely small fragments of wood, one piece at a time. Even a smaller colony, at 60,000 workers, can eat 1/5 ounce—or 5 grams—of wood each day. The most destructive of the three is the Subterranean Termites who are capable of severely damaging. These termites build distinctive tunnels, often referred to as “mud tubes,” to reach food sources and protect themselves from open air. It forms their homes in the soil where they are structured into colonies comprising king, queen, workers, and soldiers. Through the tunnel, they look for a food source and the moment they have access, They eat wood 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there is no limit to the scale of damage they are capable of causing. However Subterranean termites are known for their voracious tendencies and can damage even non-cellulosic substances also in search of food and shelter.

Drywood termite The difference between Drywood and Subterranean is that drywood termites are capable of producing the amount of moisture they need by metabolizing the wood they eat.  These social insects infest dry wood and do not require contact with the soil. The wooden structure they live in serves as their shelter and source of food. Drywood termites form colonies of up to 2,500 members. Unlike subterranean termite species, drywood termite colonies do not have a worker caste. The work is done by immature termites before they reach adulthood. Drywood termites infest dry wood, like that found in attic framings. Drywood termites can infest structures and cause significant damage.

Dampwood termite As the name suggests, dampwood termites infest wood with high moisture content. Dampwood termites are normally larger than other termite species. Dampwood termite colonies, like drywood termites, have no worker caste. The nymph dampwood termites take care of the kings and queens of the colony and feed the soldier caste. Because of their need for excessive moisture, Dampwood termites are rarely found in homes or other man-made structures, since wood in these structures typically does not have enough moisture.  However, care must be taken to avoid attracting dampwood termites to a structure.
